WINTERSTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) -
A fire Tuesday morning caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to a York County home.
The fire started around 6:30 a.m. in the 12000 block of Mount Olivet Road in North Hopewell Township.
Captain Benjamin Grove of the North Hopewell-Winterstown Fire Company said the residents safely escaped after they heard a loud noise and then saw smoke and flames coming from a second-floor bedroom.
Grove said the fire appears to be accidental and likely started after a tree branch fell on a wire between the house and a barn.
He said the home's old plaster walls likely kept the flames from spreading past the bedroom.
