2 dead in murder-suicide in Susquehanna Township

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A shooting incident at a Susquehanna Township home that left two men dead resulted from a domestic-related murder-suicide, according to investigators.

Coroner Graham Hetrick and township police on Friday identified the victim as 45-year-old Thomas Kennedy, who lived at the home in the 3500 block of Cloverfield Road.

Hetrick said Kennedy and Sarah Canero, of Camp Hill, were leaving Kennedy's home through a back door Thursday night when Canero's husband, 43-year-old Joseph Canero, shot Kennedy in his backyard.

Kennedy then ran around the home as Joseph Canero continued to fire until Kennedy collapsed in the front yard from three gunshot wounds to his chest, Hetrick said. Kennedy died at the scene.

Canero, of Camp Hill, and his wife then argued before he shot himself in the head, Hetrick said. He died at a hospital.

Sarah Canero apparently suffered some type of cut during the incident, according to neighbors.

Police confirmed she was treated at Harrisburg Hospital for non-life threatening injuries and said they recovered both a gun and a knife from the scene.

Neighbors told abc27 news Kennedy was a quiet man who kept to himself.

"He was a fine guy," Art Winsheimer said "I thought he was the salt of the earth. No matter what happened, Tom, he was a hard working guy and he took care of his family. As far as I am concerned, he didn't deserve this. Shooting somebody is not the way to solve problems."
