Two Lancaster County police departments have filed charges against a York man accused of robbing seven banks in central and eastern Pennsylvania.

West Hempfield Township police on Thursday charged 32-year-old Luis Rafael Cruz with the robbery of the Union Community Bank in Columbia on May 31.

East Hempfield Township earlier in the week charged Cruz with a July 30 robbery of the Metro Bank at 23 Rohrerstown Road.

Cruz admitted to all seven crimes after his arrest last month for the robbery of a Sovereign Bank branch in Shrewsbury, according to police.

He had already been charged for robberies in Hanover and Newberry Township in York County, as well as two similar crimes in Reading and in the Allentown area.
