Man fatally struck by bus near Greencastle

GREENCASTLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A man was fatally struck by a Franklin County Transportation bus while he was paving a driveway along Route 16, according to police.

State police in Chambersburg said Robert B. Thomas, 46, of Fort Littleton, was working in the area of Letzburg Road in Peters Township, near the village of Upton, when the bus hit him in the eastbound lane of Route 16 shortly before noon.

The bus driver, 74-year-old Maurice Mills Jr., of Fayetteville, was not injured. Police said he remained on the scene and is fully cooperating with the investigation.

Route 16 in the area was closed in both directions until 4:20 p.m.
