Woman, 20, reports abduction attempt near Shippensburg

A 20-year-old woman says she was attacked by a man who tried to force her into his vehicle after she refused a ride, according to state police in Chambersburg.

The woman reported that she was walking in the 400 block of Roxbury Road in Southampton Township when the man approached her Monday around 6:45 p.m., police said.

She said that after she refused his offer of a ride, he drove east on Roxbury for a short distance but turned around, exited his vehicle, and chased her to the front yard of a home where he struck her and tried to drag her, police said. He fled after a brief struggle.

The man was said to be white, 30-40 years old, about 5'8" tall, with short brown hair and a heavy build. He was wearing a blue shirt and sunglasses and driving a red vehicle, possibly a minivan, of unknown make and model, police said.
