MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A unique and first of its kind event will roll through central Pennsylvania next month. It's called the "Mille for MS" and it's a road rally to fight the disabling disease.

"We wanted to make it a unique road rally through beautiful central Pennsylvania roads," said Mike Pavone of Mille for MS.

The inaugural road rally will take off Saturday, October 20 at 8 a.m. It will start at Sun Motors Porsche dealership on the Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg and wind its way over more than 100 miles for a day-long journey.

"We're gonna go from Sun Motor Cars to King's Gap which is a state park," said Hugh Simpson of Mille for MS. "From King's Gap, we'll go to the Carlisle Fairgrounds for lunch and then from there go to Felicita which is where the finish is."

But more vintage vehicles are needed to make the Mille for MS a success. It costs $200 for car enthusiasts to join the road rally.

"We want any vintage cars, unique cars, exotic cars, muscle cars, antiques and classics all of that," Pavone said.

Mille is Italian for thousand and the goal is to raise $20,000 to help the 6,200 people living with MS in central Pennsylvania.

"This is an optimistic time for people living with MS. There are now nine treatments to stop the progression, plus local programs and services but there's still much to be done," said Margie Adelmann of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

The fun starts Friday, October 19th. For $10, the public can check out the cars in the road rally at Sun Motors on the Carlisle Pike. The sneak preview is from 5-9 p.m. You can also vote for your favorite car.
