Man jailed for stabbing in New Holland apartment

NEW HOLLAND, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police in New Holland, Lancaster County are investigating an early morning stabbing.

Police said shortly before 4:00 a.m. Thursday, 30-year-old Kevin Burns called 911.  When police arrived at his apartment on South Custer Avenue, they said they discovered he had suffered four stab wounds to the back.

Police arrested 40-year-old Benny Carver at the scene. They said he was in possession of a pocket knife with blood on it and was pounding on the front door when they arrived.

Police said Burns and Carver had been drinking together and Burns asked Carver to leave before the confrontation.

Burns' injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said Carver also threatened to kill the officers who arrested him.  He's charged with aggravated assault and terroristic threats.

Carver is now in the Lancaster County Prison on $400,000 bail.
