HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

An 18-year-old Allison Hill man has been jailed on charges he fired a BB gun from the Harrisburg Cemetery; first at a passerby and then at a city police car.

Lavar Givens, of the 1900 block of Zarker Street, faces three counts each of aggravated assault and reckless endangerment plus related offenses.

Harrisburg police said a 22-year-old man walking by the cemetery in the 1300 block of Herr Street Thursday night felt a sharp pain in his back and realized he had been shot by a BB gun after he heard a young man laughing and giggling in a wooded portion of the cemetery near him.

As responding officers drove by the cemetery, their car was struck by a pellet or BB, police said.

Other officers arrived to search the area and two black males ran from the cemetery. Givens was caught with a powerful air pistol, a knife, and a marijuana pipe on him, according to police. The other young man got away.

The 22-year-old victim did not require medical attention. The police car had a small dent and paint chip on the passenger side.

Anyone with information is asked to call Harrisburg police at 717-255-3156.
