HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
State Senator Jeffrey Piccola admits he made a mistake while acting as a private attorney and violated the rules of professional conduct.
A complaint filed over the summer by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, which oversees the conduct of attorneys, alleged that Piccola represented a firm that looks for the heirs of people who have died, but also represented those heirs and failed to disclose it.
In a statement issued Friday, Piccola said all of the allegations involving fraud and dishonesty have been withdrawn. He said in the statement that he misread the rules and accepts a reprimand from the disciplinary board.
"I also apologize to my constituents who I have been blessed to represent," the Republican senator said. "The opportunity I have been granted for public service is one of the greatest blessings of my life and I am truly sorry if I have stained the Senate by making this mistake."
