YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -
The New York Wire company has notified the state Department of Labor and Industry that it will close its plant operations in York.
The shutdown will mean the loss of at least 100 jobs.
The company has been in the city for more than a century.
The annual steam whistle concert that takes place early Christmas Day will go on as scheduled, but concert organizers are not sure about future events until the know the status of the building after the plant closes.
The whistle is located on the roof of the factory and can be moved, but officials hope to keep it at the facility for future holiday concerts.
