STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WHTM) -
Penn State President Rodney Erickson says the sentence given to Jerry Sandusky cannot erase what has happened to the victims of child sexual abuse, but he says hopefully it will provide comfort.
Erickson issued a statement Tuesday after Sandusky, a former assistant football coach at Penn State, was sentenced to 30- to 60-years in prison for the sexual abuse of 10 boys over 15 years, including some attacks inside Penn State athletic facilities.
"Our thoughts today, as they have been for the last year, go out to the victims of Jerry Sandusky's abuse," Erickson said in the statement.
"While today's sentence cannot erase what has happened, hopefully it will provide comfort to those affected by these horrible events and help them continue down the road to recovery," he said.
