Police investigating fatal crash on Route 194

EAST BERLIN, Pa. (WHTM) -

Authorities are trying to identify a man who died after he crashed into a tractor-trailer on Route 194 in York County.

The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. Monday in the area of Leathery Road in Washington Township.

State police Trooper Adam Reed said the man was headed south in a passenger car when he crossed the center line, hit the northbound truck nearly head-on, and almost immediately burst into flames.

The driver died at the scene.

The truck driver, a 45-year-old man from Elizabethtown, was taken to Penn State Hershey Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. His name was not immediately released.

Route 194 was closed in both directions in the area while police investigated the crash.
