HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
Governor Tom Corbett on Wednesday ceremonially signed a law to provide grant money for Pennsylvania's fire, ambulance and emergency companies.
The Firefighter Grant Program law, also known as Senate Bill 866, reauthorizes and expands a grant program to help finance the purchase
of equipment and other needs.
The measure expands funding from $25 to $30 million, and funds are available to paid fire companies for the first time.
Corbett said the grants make certain emergency responders have the equipment they need to do their
jobs well and safely.
The legislation officially became law on June 29. The ceremonial signing was held at the Advance Rescue Fire Company in Harrisburg.
