Rita Wynegar
YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -
A York County woman has admitted to stealing more than $300,000 from an elderly relative.
Rita Wynegar, 52, of Dallastown, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a single count of theft by unlawful taking.
A sentencing hearing was scheduled for December 31.
Wynegar was charged in July by state prosecutors who accused her of taking the
money for her own use beginning in September 2006, when Wynegar took full control of her great aunt's finances.
Attorney General Linda Kelly said the York County Area Agency on Aging had received a complaint that
the elderly woman, a resident of the Brunswick of Longstown personal
care home, was being financially exploited.
