HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Governor Tom Corbett has signed legislation to name part of a Cumberland County highway in honor of a fallen Marine.

House Bill 2460, signed by the governor on Wednesday, designates a section of Route 233 from Newville to Route 11 as the Marine Lance Corporal Nicholas B. Morrison Memorial Highway.

Morrison, a 2000 graduate of Big Spring High School in Newville, was 23 years old when he died in August 2004 from a roadside bomb that struck his humvee while on patrol in Al Anbar Province, Iraq.

Morrison was assigned to the Weapons Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

The measure honoring him was authored by state Representative Stephen Bloom, R-Cumberland.
