Two injured in York County school bus accident

Posted: Updated:

Two children were injured in a Red Lion School District bus accident in York County this morning.

State Police Trooper Adam Reed said the bus went into a ditch after the driver, Bernard Bacon, took his eyes off the road to talk to children who had been playing around in the back of the bus.

Two children and the bus driver were transported to York Hospital with non-life-threatening head injuries. The children are between 10 and 12-years-old.

The bus was en-route to an Amish school and the children on board were not district students.

There was also damage to the back bus tire. State Police said Bacon, 60, will be cited for a traffic violation.

The accident took place in front of 11853 Pomraning Road in Chanceford Township near the intersections of Dettinger & Gun Tree Roads.
