GLEN ROCK, Pa. (WHTM) -
People living in low-lying areas of downtown Glen Rock were asked to leave their homes and move to higher ground Monday night because of the rising waters of the Codorus Creek.
Borough officials also told residents on Hanover, Baltimore, Main, and Manchester Streets near the square to move their vehicles as the rain of Hurricane Sandy caused the creek to rise. Police threatened to tow cars that were not moved.
Mayor and Assistant Fire Chief Ron McCullough said the fire company rescued two people from flood waters Monday evening.
"We got a person driving into the water," he said, "then we had a person trying to rescue a duck of all things and fell into the creek. We were able to get her out."
A temporary shelter for those who left their homes was set up at Trinity U.C.C. Church on Manchester Street.
