LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

Lancaster police are investigating a report of a possible attempted child abduction involving a 10-year-old girl.

The girl on Tuesday morning was standing on the sidewalk near a corner store in the area of Manor Street and Old Dorwart Street when a man began talking to her and asked her if she wanted to go with him, police said.

The child's mother, who was standing nearby, verbally confronted the man, who then got into a Navy blue Chevrolet Trailblazer and drove away, police said.

The man was described as white and of unknown age, wearing glasses, and balding on top with white hair on sides, police said.

Police have released a photo of a similar vehicle, not the actual suspect vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lancaster City Police at (717) 735-3300 or Lancaster City-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-322-1913.
