The Lebanon County Detective Bureau has charged two men in connection with the sale and distribution of synthetic marijuana and bath salts at a former Palmyra store.

Up in Smoke owner Ernest T. Green, 35, of Hershey, and store clerk Ricky Lee Williams, 22, of Palmyra, each were charged with delivery of a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, the bureau said in a news release.

Detectives in court documents said a member of the Lebanon County Drug Task Force made undercover purchases from the store at 232 West Main Street on or about December 31, 2011 while Williams was behind the counter and Green was in the store.

Williams recorded the purchases in a handwritten log book behind the counter, documents state.

Lab tests later indicated the purchased products - labeled as Down 2 Earth, Iron Lung and Rip Its - had been treated with controlled substances including a synthetic cannabinoid, according to court documents.

Green immediately shut down the store and surrendered the illegal products after the incident, detectives said.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for November 29.

Detectives in the documents said they had been tipped off that the store was selling the illegal products and was trying to fill a void caused by the closure of a similar business, Bad Boys Toys, which had been raided by police last December.
