Roanoke County, VA - Around 4:00 p.m. Friday, Roanoke County Police went to the 5400 block of Catawba Valley Drive on a two vehicle accident. Police say 83-year old Ray Linton of Craig County was going north on Catawba Valley Drive when he crossed the double yellow line into on coming traffic.
Linton's car struck a car driven by 18-year old Laura Wright of New Castle. Investigators say Wright then ran off the right side of the road, landing on the bottom of an embankment. Linton ended up in the northbound lane facing south.
Wright was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. Police say Linton was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigation into the wreck continues.
