MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
The day before election day, campaign workers are focused on one thing: getting people to the polls.
The Romney Victory Center on South Frederick Street in Mechanicsburg was packed Monday with dozens of volunteers making calls to potential voters.
"We are calling all the voters and encouraging them to get out to the polls tomorrow," said Valerie Caras, Communication Director Republican Party Of Pennsylvania. "Also, if they need a ride we'll be happy to take them. Our voters are enthused and going to get to the polls in record numbers tomorrow and we feel very confident that Mitt Romney is going to do very well in Pennsylvania and we are going to be the state that sends him to the White House."
Volunteers working for the Democratic ticket were also busy making calls out of their office on Louther Street in Carlisle.
"Really the focus is getting them to the polls," said Shawna Chriss, Canvass Director for the Obama campaign. "Most of the people we are talking to are Obama supporters, but it is hard to get people to the polls. There are also still a lot of undecided voters out there, so we have information we can give them and give people rides to the polls."
Volunteers also went door to door and made sure people knew where they needed to go to cast their vote. The parties say door to door campaigning makes a big impact.
"Door to door is a huge component of our campaign," said Caras. "To put it in perspective, we have hit over one million doors state wide, which is a huge number."
