HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Republican Bill Shuster has won re-election to the congressional seat he's held since 2001.

Shuster, of Hollidaysburg, defeated Democratic candidate Karen Ramsburg, a registered nurse from Mercersburg.

Shuster has represented Pennsylvania in the 9th congressional district since 2001, when he won a special election to fill the seat previously held for 37 years by his father, Bud Shuster.

District 9 includes all of Franklin County and 11 other counties in central and southwestern Pennsylvania.
