HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Republican Lou Barletta has been re-elected to the second term in Pennsylvania's 11 congressional district after defeating political activist Gene Stilp in Tuesday's election.

Barletta has served in Congress since 2010. As the Mayor of Hazleton, he gained national attention with his efforts to keep illegal immigrants out of the city.

Stilp, of Harrisburg, is best known for his activism against the 2005 legislative pay raise and his visual demonstrations at the state Capitol that have frequently included a giant pink inflatable pig.

District 11 before 2012 included Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and most of the Poconos, but the lines were redrawn during the legislative reapportionment to include most of Dauphin County, central and western Cumberland County, and the Duncannon and Marysville areas of Perry County.
