Good Turnout So Far at Polling Places in Roanoke

Roanoke, VA - Most areas in the Roanoke Valley are seeing good turnouts with many precincts having lines 50 deep and an hour to wait.

The voting station at Lincoln Terrace Elementary in Roanoke had already processed 25% of all registered voters by 10:30.

The Roanoke County registrar's office also reported heavy voter turnout throughout Tuesday morning.

    State police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Saturday night in Salisbury Township.Troopers responded to a single-vehicle accident just after 10 p.m. near the 5000 block of Lincoln Highway.The vehicle was driven by 66-year-old Elmer Lee.Lee reportedly swerved off the road and struck a tree stump causing his vehicle to overturn.He died at the scene as a result of severe head trauma.More >>

    Police in Palmyra are searching for the man who robbed a convenience store Saturday afternoon.The robbery happened at the JM Mart along East Main Street.Investigators say store employees told them a young man entered the store and demanded the clerk open the register. The clerk did and handed over an undisclosed amount of money.The suspect left the store on foot and was last seen running south on South Chestnut Street.More >>
