A 64-year-old North York woman bound to a wheelchair says she was robbed on her way to a senior center.
"He grabbed my wrist and went for my pocketbook," she told abc27 News. "Apparently, he saw it hanging from the side of my chair."
The woman did not want to show her face and she wanted to be called "Cindy."
Cindy said she had left her home in the 600 block of North George Street and had gone about a block Saturday morning when the robber came up from behind and grabbed her purse from the armrest of her electric wheelchair.
"I was afraid I would get hurt if I didn't give it to him," Cindy said.
The robber was described as a tall and skinny white male wearing light colored clothing. He was last seen running south on North George Street.
The victim was not harmed. Her purse was later recovered in the 900 block of North George Street, but her cash was missing.
That made Cindy happy because the purse was a gift from her mother. However, the robber took $30, a bus pass, and her Medicare card.
She had some strong words for the suspect.
"I hope you have bad dreams for the rest of your life, and I think you shouldn't do it to anybody else because it's not fair," she said.
