HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) -
Penn State Hershey Medical Center held a dedication event Tuesday for the new Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital.
The nearly $207 million facility, built adjacent to the Medical Center's main entrance, includes five operating suites designed for the surgical care of children and adolescents, as well as specialized care units for treating pediatric heart patients and children with cancer.
The five-story hospital, the only of its kind in the area, also includes private rooms where both parents can stay overnight with their child, dedicated pediatric operating rooms, healing gardens, and a performing arts area.
The hospital was funded in part by private donors and state development dollars.
