LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) -

A woman claimed to have an explosive device strapped to her when she demanded money from a Lancaster County bank, but then fled without the cash that was given to her, according to police.

East Hempfield Township police said 52-year-old Kim L. Funk was arrested Tuesday morning immediately after she left the Metro Bank branch at 23 Rohrerstown Road.

She was taken into custody after she removed the suspicious device, which was left on the ground until it could be examined by the Pennsylvania State Police Hazardous Device and Explosives Section.

Police said the device was determined to be a fake.

Funk was charged with robbery and facsimile weapons of mass destruction, a third-degree felony. She was sent to Lancaster County Prison on $50,000 cash bail.

Police said she acted alone.

Traffic was rerouted around the area for about two hours.
