Two men assaulted a clerk and knocked a customer to the floor during the robbery of a Lebanon store, then made their escape and apparently set fire to the getaway car, according to police.
Police said one of the robbers had a gun, and both were wearing red hoodies and masks, when the pair took money from the corner store at 5th and Lehman streets at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
They fled the store and ran north on 5th Street, where a witness saw them get into a small silver vehicle with black wheels, police said.
A short time later, North Lebanon police and firefighters were sent to the area of Kenbrook Road and Kercher Avenue for a car fire. The car was a small, silver Honda and the fire appeared to have been intentionally set, police said.
The Honda was completely destroyed and is registered to a resident of Reading. It had not been reported stolen at the time of the incident, was unoccupied, and no one was located in the area, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Lebanon City police at (717) 272-6611.
