
November is
national adoption month. This Val's Kid highlights the highlight of many little
lives finding permanent families. Dauphin County Courthouse. A place
cases are heard. Suspects are tired. Verdicts are delivered. But on November
14, 2012 in Judge Todd Hoover's courtroom. A joyous occasion.
"Today is adoption day, These are one of the most satisfying, gratifying responsibilities
that any judge can have" said Judge Todd Hoover. A moment when the scales
of justice tip in favor of children who are officially being welcomed into
loving families.
"What we see is it's people who love children man faith based, who just open up their homes and hearts to children who come from circumstances that were horrific on occasions, into love and caring homes" said Hoover. Homes like the Breindel family in Derry Township, Dauphin County.
"We're
here for our second adoption, we adopted Tasha this morning" said Tasha's
father Russ Breindel. In all, the Breindel family has adopted 5 children brining a family total
to 10.
"It's life changing. The opportunity to make a difference in the life of a
child is amazing" said Michelle Breindel, Tasha's mother.
"We went through 9 adoptions today I think. 7 sets of parents and one set
of parents adopted 3 and the others all adopted one" said adoptive father
and Adoption Attorney Mark Silliker.
Still hundreds more children wait. The Statewide Adoption and Permanency
Network is working hard to get more children permanent loving families "We
have about a thousand children for whom we are recruiting actively at any given
time in Pennsylvania. Those are children in the foster care system, who need an
adoptive family, for whom we haven't located a resource yet" said

Here are two brothers that are still waiting to be adopted. Brothers John
and Brad. John is described as a sweet child who
likes structure and routine. John has a quiet relaxed personality. He is kind,
helpful and loves to ride his bike, camp and watch football. John's favorite
team is the Pittsburgh Steelers.
His favorite food is pizza. John's brother Chad
has a playful personality. He's also helpful, strong-willed, and has a great
sense of humor. Chad loves big trucks and Legos. His favorite food is chicken
nuggets with a lot of ketchup.
John and Chad share a close bond. They would like to have a forever
family that included a mom, dad and a few dogs. For more information on John
