HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police in suburban Harrisburg are investigating a report that a suspicious man asked a 12-year-old girl to get into a van.

Susquehanna Township police said the incident occurred shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday as the girl was walking to her bus stop in the 500 block of North 36th Street.

The girl reported that the van drove slowly aside her as she walked and a passenger started up a conversation. At one point, the passenger asked her if she would like to get in the van and when she declined the van drove away, police said.

The van was described as an older "box-style" white van with dirt along the bottom. There were no side windows other than the passenger window and two rear doors with a window on each door, police said.

The passenger was described as a light complexioned, possibly Hispanic man, about 30 years old, with dark hair that was longer in the front than the back. He was wearing an off-white, three-quarter sleeve shirt and has a small earring in his right ear, police said.

Anyone with information may call the Susquehanna Township police tip line at 717-909-TIPS.
