HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
Thirty six Pennsylvanians won a total of $3.5 million in last night's Powerball drawing.
Three luck winners won $1 million by matching five of the winning numbers. The tickets were sold in Altoona, Blair County; Cabot, Butler County and Wynnewood, Montgomery County.
Pennsylvania Lottery Powerball/Power Play sales peaked between 5 p.m.
and 6 p.m. on Nov. 28, selling about $40,500 worth of tickets per minute.
Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Todd Rucc said more than just lottery players won yesterday.
"Older Pennsylvanians also came away as big winners because this jackpot
run generated more than $28 million in funding for vital services to
older adults," Rucci said. "It will help fund
prescription drug programs, provide property tax and rent rebates,
support senior centers and hot meal programs, contribute to long-term
living programs, and sponsor free transit and reduced-fare shared rides
-- every day."
An additional 33 Pennsylvanians matched four of the five winning numbers. The five who purchased Power Play each won $40,000. The 28 who didn't purchase Power Play each won $10,000.
An additional 536,461 Pennsylvanians won between $200 and $4.
Two jackpot tickets were sold in Arizona and Missouri. These tickets matched all six numbers and the owners won a the record-breaking $579.9 million jackpot.
