HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
Natural gas users are in for a pleasant surprise when they get their next bill.
UGI announced today that the average customer will see a 3.8 percent decrease starting December 1 as a result of a reduction in wholesale natural gas prices.
The average residential heating customer should see their bill decrease from $89.55 to $86.17 per month, UGI said in a press release. Natural gas rates were also decreased in March 2012 and December 2011 by 4.3 and 13.5 percent respectively.
By law, utility companies cannot earn a profit on the sale of natural gas. They must pass the product on to consumer without any
markup.
UGI's Gas Division serves about 320,000 customers in 15 Pennsylvania counties.
