Police investigating deadly crash on Route 283

Update on 12/5 to include the name of one of the victims and a more specific location.

Police are investigating a deadly overnight crash on Route 283 westbound in Rapho Township, Lancaster County.

The single-vehicle crash happened around 2 a.m. on State Route 283 near Strickler Road, which is close to the Route 772 exit.

Dispatchers said when police arrived on the scene there were two patients. A 17-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the other, Benjamin Klinger, was transported to Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Traffic was detoured through Mount Joy until the westbound lanes reopened at around 7 a.m.

The investigation into the crash in ongoing.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Manheim Borough Police Department at 717-665-2481.
