Vandals target Newville woman's Christmas display

NEWVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Cumberland County woman is dealing with a grinch-like vandal who's targeting the Christmas display in her front yard.

Kathy Glessner has 35 inflatable figures in her Newville yard along with a number of lights. Most of the figures are of Santa. She has Santa in a car, Santa in a rocket ship, even Santa ducking into a port-a-potty.

But Kathy said that on three separate occasions, someone has come by to cut a total of six of the electrical cords that keep her displays lighted and inflated.

She reported the incident to police and they came out to see what they could find. So far, no one has any idea who might be doing this.

Kathy said she waited up one night, but the grinch did not appear.

"So fair warning, if you show up, I'll be watching," she said.

Kathy said neighbors have only been supportive of the display.

"It's beautiful and I don't think it's right for the people who've been tearing her stuff down," said Linda Featherman.

"I haven't seen anything," said neighbor Noah Rife. "I think it's ridiculous that people do that."
