YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -
Firefighters in York said they discovered the body of a woman inside a home on Devers Road Sunday following a small fire there on Saturday.
The York County coroner identified the victim as 68-year-old Margaret Mann.
Crews were dispatched to the home around 5:00 p.m. after a caretaker discovered the body inside.
Police said it appears Mann died of smoke inhalation.
Investigators said the fire was started by a lit cigarette, and have since ruled it accidental in nature.
There were signs Mann tried to escape, firefighters said.
A smoke alarm was discovered inside the home, but investigators said it did not have working batteries.
