A woman was raped inside a car on the 100-block of Church Avenue in Carlisle at 3:45 Monday morning, police said in a press release.
Investigators said one man raped the 20-year-old victim while the other held her down. She was approached as she walked home along South Pitt Street, which police said is a relatively safe area of downtown.
The woman said her attacker was 20-25 years old, armed with a handgun. He was about six feet tall with brown buzzed hair and an eagle tattoo on his right arm and skull tattoo on his inner left bicep.
"It's very disturbing," police chief Stephen Margeson said. "We are fortunate (in Carlisle) to not get many sexual assaults, especially of this nature."
The victim recognized her attacker by face but did not know his identity, Margeson said.
The men were last seen driving a two-door black Honda.
Police said releasing more information about the incident could jeopardize the investigation.
