Auction at old Hershey chocolate factory nears

Posted: Updated:
HERSHEY, Pa. (WHTM) -

Heavy machinery and thousands of other items from the original Hershey chocolate factory will be up for auction this weekend.

Fortna Auctioneers & Marketing Group will hold an auction on Saturday and Sunday mornings.  Michael Fortna will oversee both events. He expects big crowds on both days.

Forklifts and overhead cranes will be available to the highest bidder along with ladders, cleaning machines and supplies. The bath tubs that were used to haul chocolate inside the factory will have a starting bid of $300.

Bidders can preview all the items at the old plant on Friday. They can also register for the weekend auctions.

An agenda of all the items to be auctioned will be available so people can plan their day. Proper identification is required and out-of-state checks will not be accepted.
