Chambersburg police will provide extra patrols as elementary children head back to school Monday morning, borough manager Jeffrey Stonehill said Sunday night.
Stonehill said police chief David Arnold will coordinate with district officials in the morning to confirm security plans in response to the tragic school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
He emphasized students and parents should not be fearful to return to school.
"We do not anticipate any trouble tomorrow," Stonehill said. "Our community will obviously respond with grief and compassion to these events.
Stonehill said all further questions on heightened security measures should be directed to the Chambersburg School District.
