YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -
York County Republicans and Democrats will come together tonight to hold a candlelight vigil for those affected by an elementary school shooting that killed 20 children and six adults in Newtown, Conn. on Friday.
"Now is not the time for political
differences. It is the time for unity in our communities in support of the
families affected by this tragedy," said Bob Kefauver, chair of the Democratic Party
of York County. "Everyone is welcome to join us as we stand
to honor those impacted by the horrific events at Sandy Hook Elementary."
The vigil will be held at the York Square from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
On their website, the Democratic Party of York County emphasized that this event "is not a political rally" or a time for partisan demonstrations.
"This vigil is to show solidarity and support for the victims, survivors and families of those devastated by this tragedy," according to the website.
