A Lancaster woman has been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of her two-year-old daughter for leaving the girl unattended inside a restaurant, according to city police.
Evanisse Rivera-Melendez, 28, is accused of leaving her daughter in a stroller Monday afternoon while she used the restroom at the Subway in the first block of East King Street, police said.
A city police officer was seated inside the business and had to intervene to keep the crying and distressed child from attempting to climb out of the stroller, police said.
Police said there were about 10 other customers in the restaurant, but none were with Rivera-Melendez or asked to watch her child.
Rivera-Melendez was inside the restroom for about five minutes before returning to her child, police said.
Rivera-Melendez was released on $10,000 unsecured bail. The child was released to a family member.
