Police are reporting a man was struck by a train in Columbia on Tuesday.
Officers responded to the area of S Front Street in Columbia Borough for a report of a person struck by a train. They arrived on the scene around 5 p.m. where they found a man laying on the tracks behind the Columbia #1 Fire Company between Union and Locust Streets.
Police said that the 26-year-old victim from Ephrata sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of being struck by a northbound Norfolk Southern train heading from Lancaster to Harrisburg.
The man was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld until his next of kin is notified.
