A York woman will spend 25-50 years in prison for stealing money from her elderly grandmother and then killing her with a drug-laced chili.
Shelby Lyn Adams, 41, pleaded guilty Tuesday to third-degree murder and four counts of forgery.
Adams received 20-40 years for the third-degree murder conviction and an additional 5-10 years for the forgery convictions.
Prosecutors said she stole checks from 90-year-old Ada
Adams and forged and cashed them before killing her grandmother in 2008 with a lethal dose of morphine mixed into her favorite fast food chili.
Adams, who was working in a hospital emergency room and had access to
leftover morphine, was charged with the crimes in February.
