New Cumberland man, 21, charged with attempted theft

NEW CUMBERLAND, Pa. (WHTM) -

Police caught the man who reportedly held up the Market Mart in New Cumberland on Wednesday.

Officers responded to a call from a clerk at the mart that a man had tried to rob the store at knifepoint. The clerk told police that the suspect had been wearing a ski mask and had displayed a kitchen knife while demanding money. The suspect then fled on foot with no money.

Police picked up 21-year-old Brandon Seiff of New Cumberland a short distance from the Market Mart. Seiff matched the description of the suspect given by a witness. He was positively identified and later confessed to police. Officers also managed to recover the knife.

Seiff is charged with robbery, attempted theft and simple assault by physical menace. He is awaiting arraignment on the charges.

Police report that there were no injuries.
