SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Thursday near Shippensburg.
State police said the car left the 1300 block of Ritner Highway in Southampton Township for an unknown reason and traveled into a field before it struck a mailbox and slid sideways into a utility pole, which impacted the driver's side door.
The crash occurred at around 4:45 a.m.
Ritner Highway, also known as Route 11, was closed between Newville and Goodhart roads until just before 9 a.m.
The name of the male driver was not immediately released.
