According to Harrisburg Police a woman was using the ATM at the Corner Store in Harrisburg when a young man approached her from behind, tore her purse from her arm, and fled. Police say the victim lost about $300 and the contents of her wallet.
The victim told police that she had seen the young man at the store before, but did not know his name.
Police were able to establish 20 year-old Donald Purnell as a suspect. The victim was able to confirm Purnell was her attacker using a photo array.
Police say Purnell was found hiding under a bed during a search of his residence and was taken into custody without incident. Purnell returned the stolen money and showed the officers where he discarded the woman's wallet, according to police. They say he also had two small bags of marijuana with him.
Purnell has been charged with robbery, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police say he was also served a warrant for failure to pay taxes.
