HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
High noon in Harrisburg was a bone-shivering time for a few hundred scantily-clad people.
Brave? Yes.
Crazy? Maybe.
But the Penguin Plunge at City Island, a New Year's Day tradition for 16 years, raises money for the Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, and online donations alone this year totaled $32,000.
Robert Roth of Marysville was among the brave souls who plunged into the 34-degree water.
"Usually, every time I go jump in the river the first time, I come out, there's someone saying 'do it again, do it again,'" Roth said. "And what do I do? Good ol' Bob, I jump back in a second time and that's when its cold."
