The holiday season is over, but the same cannot be said for the flu season. State health officials said the flu cases are escalating, and it could get worse.
So far, more than 7,181 cases have been reported to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. A strain associated with severe complications is mainly what's going around, health officials said.
When comparing the last two weeks on record, there was a 45 percent increase in cases.
Health officials said it's still not too late to get a flu shot.
