A portion of Commonwealth Avenue in Harrisburg will remain closed through the weekend as UGI finishes work following a gas leak.
Department of General Services spokesman Troy Thompson said UGI workers found the leak after the odor of gas was discovered Wednesday in the North Office Building on the Capitol Complex.
Workers in the building, who had been evacuated and sent home early on Wednesday, returned to work on Thursday.
Thompson said it is expected that Commonwealth Avenue will remain closed between North Street and Forester Street and from North Drive to North Street.
The timeline for reopening is subject to change depending on the progress UGI makes in the coming days.
Thompson said no illnesses were reported as a result of the leak.
UGI still has not determined the cause of the leak, but Thompson noted that the lines are 83 years old.
