Former State Rep. Scott Perry of York County is now U.S. Rep. Scott Perry.
Perry was sworn into office Thursday. He was elected in November to take the seat vacated by Rep. Todd Platts after Platts decided not to run for re-election.
On his first day in office, Perry cast his first vote. That vote was in favor of John Boehner maintaining his spot as Speaker of the House.
Perry said he will hold the line on spending and will stand up to President Obama when necessary.
"But I would tell the President, 'hey, I won, too, but by a larger margin than you did by the people where I live, so I'm going to support them because that's what they want and they're a part of this government, too," Perry said.
Perry was among the 81 freshman members that were sworn into Congress Thursday.
