MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Shippensburg man has been arrested for stealing about $80,000 worth of steel pipe from a construction site in Hampden Township, Cumberland County.

Aaron David Babner, 20, was charged with theft and receiving stolen property and sent to Cumberland County Prison on $25,000 bail, according to township police.

Babner allegedly stole about 80 steel pipes from the 5100 block of Trindle Road over the weekend. Some of the steel was recovered from scrap and recycling yards where it was sold for cash, police said.

The steel pipes were for a sewer line replacement project and were used to secure the underground forms that keep construction workers safe from cave-ins.
